Psalm 94:18

SEALIAH: 'THE TRIUMPH OF HUMILITY

That was to be the first year young Sealiah would attend school. Until now, given the poverty of his family, he had devoted himself to caring for the sheep in the fields.

But the boy was getting older and his parents were very worried about him, as they saw how the other children in the village were being educated, while their son was almost illiterate.

So they thought that even though his help was much needed, he should go to school.

And there was Sealiah on his first day of school. He couldn't help but feel like a stranger, barely knowing a couple of kids from as many as there were.

He also felt that everyone was looking at him with some curiosity. It was normal, he had heard about the boy who was shepherding in the mountains, but they had not had the opportunity to meet him personally.

But Sealiah passed the test, for very soon they approached him, introducing themselves and inviting him to be their friend.

That attitude reassured him because he was afraid that no one would accept him.

However, Sealiah had not met all of his classmates, and the leader of the group was still missing. The arrogant Solel.

-Well, well, well, what do we have here? -exclaimed the newcomer sarcastically.

Sealiah, not sure who he was addressing, asked incredulously.

-Are you talking to me?

-Who else is it going to be? Everyone here respects me, and you know why they do? I'll tell you, kiddo. They do it because I'm their boss. You know what that means? -he asked the young man threateningly

-I understand what you mean," Sealiah replied.

The humiliated young man bowed his head and walked away from the group. Everyone laughed at Solel's words.

Time went by and Sealiah was rejected day by day by everyone. He did not follow the orders that Solel gave, while the others did.

One day, the teacher decided to make an excursion to the mountains, and everyone welcomed the proposal with enthusiasm.

They'd have a chance to play and have fun.

After three hours of walking, the group reached its goal. They chose an esplanade to camp and after releasing the batons they were carrying, they spread out as they pleased.

Solel, who already had a plan in place, gathered his collaborators and proposed that they investigate one of the nearest mountains. Sealiah, who found out about the idea, wanted to warn them that what they wanted to do was dangerous, but they didn't listen to him.

That small group arrived at the mountain they wanted to explore and when they started to climb, three wild wolves came along. They were all stunned. They hoped that their leader, Solel, would save them from that danger, but he was even more afraid than the others.

When all seemed lost, a voice made a very strange sound, but it made the wolves obey and leave. It had been Sealiah, everyone saw him and wanted to make him their new boss, but the young man who was very humble did not accept.

-You already have a boss. From now on he'll know how to help you better. And so it would be. Solel did not forget that test of humility, and since then he stopped being proud and insolent, to become an understanding and humble being.
